Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, White Plains, New York
New Console in place.
This organ was built as Austin Organ Company, Opus 225 (ca. 1905?) It was originally installed at St. Mark's Methodist Church in Baltimore, MD. The new church for Mount Carmel was constructed in 1933, and the M.P. Moller Organ Company of Hagerstown, MD installed this instrument in the new church. They utilized a three-manual console which was built for a church in Chicago, IL, with preparations for a choir division. In the installation, the Moller firm rebuilt the windchests, eliminating the very early Austin tubular pneumatic action, installing electromagnets for more reliable operation. In the 1980's, these converted actions were replaced with standard, current Austin electro-pneumatic actions, which remain to this day.
In 2001, American Classic was contracted to perform some maintenance, which has cascaded into some mechanical and tonal additions. In 2004, we installed a console, (a rebuilt console that was originally in a church in Pennsylvania.) At the same time, a new Solid-State Multisystem was installed for keying systems. Future additions include some pipe replacements and tonal additions.
